San Nicola Church – Giacobbe House – Tiberi Palace

Via Trieste - 25030 Erbusco (BS)

The Church of San Nicola in Pedergnano was founded in the 17th century by the residents themselves and the noble Tiberi family, as stated on the entrance portal: “Dedicated to Saint Charles, Francis and Nicholas of Tolentino by the Noble Enea Tiberi and the community of Pedergnano with their own money, in the year of the plague 1630”.

The Church underwent significant restoration in 1884 and 1977. The small church’s facade faces west, featuring a main portal made of Sarnico stone. Inside, it has a single nave with a barrel vault. In the center of the presbytery, there is an altarpiece depicting St. Charles, St Francis, and St Nicholas, with the Virgin Mary above.

TIBERI PALACE – NOW MINGOTTI – stands in Pedergnano. It was an ancient convent and passed into the possession of the noble Tiberi family between the 14th and 15th centuries, with whom it remained until 1768. After several transitions, it was acquired by the Mingotti family, the current owners. The palace features a classic “curtis” layout, with the facade facing south and characterized by a large portico with a delightful loggia composed of fourteen trilobate arches.

CASA GIACOBBE dates back to the 15th century and was once an ancient castle, evident from its exterior architecture on Via S. Vito. The building has an L-shaped structure. The most ancient part is the internal facade characterized by a portico with three arches at the center. On the southwest corner, there is a beautiful stone column with a tall base and a capital with thick leaves, typical of the 15th century. At the center of the small portal, there are symbols of Saint Charles Borromeo, supporting the hypothesis he was a guest there during his pastoral visit to Pedergnano in 1580.
