Anello Verde

Published on 25 May 2023

Embark on this circular trail, tracing a path in a clockwise direction that suits everyone thanks to its predominantly flat and paved terrain. The adventure begins and ends right in front of the Parish Church adjacent to Piazza Paolo VI. Amidst the redevelopment of this area, a medieval well and a rainwater cistern were uncovered (although currently not visible). The trail meanders along roads leading away from the town center, offering panoramic views on clear days that extend to the snow-draped peaks of the Piedmont region. If you keep your gaze fixed on the horizon, you’ll soon find yourself at Villa Maggi.

The villa, in its current state, stands as the result of three prior buildings built over the course of the 17th-19th centuries. Traversing vineyards and cultivated fields, and leisurely strolling through the streets, you’ll eventually reach the Little Church of Our Lady of Lourdes of Alino, perched atop a little hill. Built in 1917, the church occupies the site where an ancient Roman church once stood, as evidenced by a tombstone discovered here. Undergoing expansions multiple times between 1955 through 1990, it now dons its contemporary appearance. Conclude your journey by returning to the parking lot at Piazza degli Alpini.
